UPI sees a 30 per cent month-on-month increase in the number of transactions during June 2018

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has scored the highest month-on-month increase in terms of the number of transactions during June 2018.

As per latest figures shared by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), UPI clocked 246.3 million transactions in June 2018 against 189.4 million transactions in May 2018, a jump of 30 per cent. In terms of the total amount of funds settled through UPI, there has been an increase from Rs 332.88 billion to Rs 408.34 billion in the reporting period.

As per industry sources, among all the players operating on the UPI platform, Paytm has a leading 38 per cent share of the total volume of transactions which are around 94 million. Among banks, Yes Bank is leading the race having clocked around 53.4 million UPI transactions in June 2018.

While payment companies like Paytm, Tez and PhonePe have performed well, the number of transactions done on government supported BHIM application has increased by only 15 per cent.
