Government to set up its fifth and the biggest national data centre in Bhopal

The government plans to add a new data centre in Bhopal, to strengthen its data storage capabilities which will be the largest so far. After setting up four data centres across India, located in Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi and Bhubaneswar, this will be government’s fifth data centre in the country. The new data centre will have a capacity of 500,000 virtual servers. This new project will be undertaken by National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The land for the centre has been made available through the Madhya Pradesh government and it is expected to be operational within the next two years. Also, the rural business process outsourcing scheme is expected to increase to one lakh seats from 48,000 seats at present.

Aadhaar has generated over 121 crore numbers as on June 16, 2018. Of which nearly 591.5 million people have linked 877.9 million bank accounts. Also, approximately Rs 4 trillion have been distributed till date, along with a saving of Rs 900 billion, as a result of removing fictitious beneficiaries over the last four years.
