MSEDCL gives green signal to erect mobile towers on its premises

June 18, 2018

The Maharasthra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has given the green signal to mobile service providers to erect towers on its land on a revenue-sharing basis. The move is aimed at increasing revenues and diversification of revenue streams.

The bidder will have to propose the revenue-sharing model in exchange for MSEDCL’s space utilised for mobile towers. The bidder will have to propose the percentage of profit, post tax and excluding all expenses that it will share with the discom.

The contract for the rented premises will be for a minimum of five years which shall be renewed at MSEDCL’s discretion up to a maximum of 15 years. Additionally, the bidder will have to provide free mobile connectivity from all service providers who are using the towers. The MSEDCL will have undisputed rights to further extend these links for its own use.
