Airtel continued to lead with a subscriber market share of 29.37 per cent in March 2018

According to a report by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Bharti Airtel added 8.4 million subscribers during March 2018 and continued to lead the market with 29.37 per cent market share. With this addition, Airtel’s total subscriber base now stands at 304.9 million.

The report also shows that India’s total mobile subscribers base as on March 2018 is 1.035 billion. Airtel was followed by Vodafone India which ended March with 222.69 million subscribers, adding 5.6 million subscribers in the same month. At the end of March 2018, Idea Cellular had the maximum number of subscriber additions where it added 9.14 million users to bring its total subscribers to 211.2 million.

According to the report, Uttar Pradesh (East) circle emerged as the top circle with total 89.47 million subscribers, while Maharashtra remained at second position with a total of 83.61 million mobile subscribers. Tamil Nadu including Chennai emerged as the circle with maximum subscriber additions of 6.30 million in the month of March 2018. The overall subscriber-base increased by 21.87 million in the same month.
