Nokia signs deal to deploy GPON technology with ONE Broadband

Wednesday, 14 February 2018

Nokia has bagged a gigabit passive optical network (GPON) deal from broadband provider ONE Broadband, a Hinduja Group owned company. As part of the deal, Nokia will begin deployment of the technology in Mumbai and Delhi, followed by Bangalore and Nagpur. The technology will be deployed in other parts of the country after these cities are covered. This will enable ONE Broadband to provide 2Gbps broadband connections and to increase bandwidth to 10Gbps for its enterprise customers.

With this deal, ONE Broadband can use Nokia’s GPON technology as well as broadband network gateway (BNG), carrier grade NAT and deep packet inspection in order to provide broadband to home users.

With the help of Nokia BNG, ONE Broadband will be able to provide enhanced services to its customers. Basing the entire network on multiprotocol label switching technology, the network will be able to handle hundreds of gigabits of traffic per second.
