Government forms committee to review procedure for sharing utilities infrastructure

The government has formed a high-level committee headed by Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has been formed to review the procedure for sharing of infrastructure for utilities such as water pipes and telecom cables.

The committee was formed at a meeting of the Group of Infrastructure appointed by the Prime Minister, headed by Nitin Gadkari, minister of road transport and highways of India. The panel comprises secretaries of the ministry of road transport and highways, ministry of power, ministry of petroleum and natural gas and the ministry of railways.

In a meeting of the committee, it was decided that the ministries would not charge each other for setting up projects as the payment would be on a government to government basis.
