DoT installs public Wi-Fi hotspots at 204 BSNL exchanges in Jammu and Kashmir

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has installed public Wi-Fi hotspots in 204 rural Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited telephone exchanges spread across several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The hotspots have been set up using funds from the Universal Service Obligation Fund.

Through this, telephone exchanges have been equipped with internet facility which has become an indispensible part of day-to-day operations. The move aims to give impetus to telecom services in remote and not easily accessible parts of the state.

The hotspots have been established in various rural areas of Jammu, Akhnoor, Basholi, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Kalakote, Nowshera, Poonch, Udhampur, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Mahore, Ramban, Reasi, Ramnagar, Srinagar, Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramullah, Budgam, Karnah, Kulgam, Kupwara, Pulwama, Pahalgam, Sopore, Uri, Leh, Kargil and Nubra.
