Powering Digital Transformation: Sify dr...

As enterprises across verticals adopt digital technologies, legacy technologies are proving to be inadequate. Enterprises have therefore realised the need to build a reliable and secure core technology infrastructure, which is agile as well as flexible. Amongst various business verticals, retail and consumer segments particularly, are evolving significantly as consumer demographics undergo a change, new delivery platforms emerge and buying preferences vary. In order to match this evolution and promote digital transformation, organisations are exploring information and communication technology (ICT) solutions to alter their underlying infrastructure and application environment to derive business benefits and efficiencies.

Sify Technologies enables digital transformation for companies going through an ICT overhaul. It provides an array of solutions for managed networks, hosting and voice services, applications, and system integration to help enterprises overcome challenges. A look at some of the case studies where Sify has helped clients from retail and consumers segments in driving business efficiency…

CASE 1: Helped one of the market leaders in the batteries segment transform its sales and distribution management system

Key challenges -

• Manually managing over 4,000 distribution points and 3.2 million outlets was cumbersome and prone to errors

• Lack of integration with distributors’ systems

• No visibility of stock beyond the distributors’ sales

Solutions and benefits –

Sify’s Forum on Cloud (FORUM NXT) solution reduced the lead-time for information flow from several weeks to just one day, while also reducing hardware and resource costs (opex-based) for systems management. There was substantial improvement in the sales performance.

CASE 2: Assisted one of the leaders in the stationery products segment to get a clear visibility in its sales and distribution process

Key challenges –

• Issues in achieving synchronisation between the distributor’s system and corporate ERP SAP

• No visibility of secondary sales and stock data

• Issues owing to inaccurate demand planning

Solutions and benefits –

A combination of Sify’s sales and distribution system, forum dealer management and smart field force solutions resulted in seamless flow of data between SAP, DMS, distributor invoicing systems and handheld devices; 95 per cent accuracy of inventory records; and uniform, accurate and timely MIS reporting.

CASE 3: Supported one of the world’s leading consumer goods company in leveraging the power of Cloud

Key challenges -

• Needed to host its application environment in the Cloud to enhance customer experience

• Required standardisation across IT practices

• Wanted to employ innovative technologies that will reduce time to market and reallocate resources to core areas of expertise

Solutions and benefits –

Sify offered its private Cloud architecture built on virtualised Managed Dedicated Servers for applications and other services. The database servers were hosted on physical servers. The Managed Hosting Services offered a primary DC site and DR site at Sify’s Tier III+ Data Centres, along with access to Tier I IP network and state-of-the-art physical and logical security measures. Secondly, Sify provided Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) which offered data and application protection, comprehensive P2V and V2V recovery engine, automated provisioning of recovery for virtual machines and associated storage, and a DR management and reporting portal. Sify also provisioned VPDC – Tier III Virtual Private Data Centre for DC and DR. From compute to network, physical to virtual, all solutions were backed by 24x7x365 managed services to provide highest levels of technical expertise.

Sify, thus, helped the company in leveraging enterprise Cloud services, enhancing its ability to meet technical and regulatory requirements while ensuring privacy, undertaking non-disruptive DR drills, scaling up to meet future growth plans, database administration, and management and monitoring of virtualised and physical infrastructure.
