TRAI releases performance indicator report for the quarter ended March 2017

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the performance indicator report (PIR) for the quarter ended March 2017.

According to the report, the licence fee collections declined by 9.09 per cent, from Rs 36.98 billion during the quarter ended December 2016 to Rs 33.61 billion during the quarter ended March 2017.

Further, the total number of telephone subscribers increased by 3.72 per cent, from 1.15 billion during the quarter ended December 2016 to 1.19 billion during the quarter ended March 2017. Moreover, the overall teledensity increased from 89.90 per cent to 92.98 per cent during the same period. Meanwhile, the total number of internet subscribers increased from 0.39 billion to 0.42 billion, registering a quarterly growth rate of 7.84 per cent.
