India ranks 15 in global 4G availability according to OpenSignal’s report

June 07, 2017

According to a report released by OpenSignal, India ranks 15 in terms of 4G availability among the 75 countries surveyed. The high ranking was given as OpenSignal users were able to find 4G signals 81.6 per cent of the time during the first quarter of 2017. This was higher than the 4G signal availability of 71.6 per cent reported during the third quarter of 2016.

As per the report, the improvement can be attributed to the launch of a country-wide 4G network by Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL). RJIL’s 4G availability stood at more than 90 per cent, while the 4G availability of other operators stood at around 60 per cent.

However, the average 4G download speed for India stood at 5.1 Mbps, dropping more than a megabit per second in six months. Meanwhile, South Korea recorded the highest in 4G availability and second highest 4G speed.
