Anritsu demonstrates 1 GB/s LTE-A throughput using qualcomm snapdragon X16 modem

Anritsu Company has announced that it has successfully demonstrated peak throughput for a long term evolution (LTE)-Advanced device and network simulator using 3x Carrier Aggregation (3CA) and 4x4 MIMO with 256QAM modulation. Utilising devices featuring the new Qualcomm® Snapdragon X16 LTE modem a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, and Anritsu’s Signalling Tester MD8430A, the company was able to successfully show support for stable IP-layer data rates of up to 1 GBit/s in the downlink.

We look forward to enabling development of consumer devices that leverage this new data rate breakthrough.

Utilizing newly introduced capability to simulate 3 contiguous LTE baseband cells on a single RF carrier, a single MD8430A or 2 MD8430As in a “Master/Slave” combination can offer more aggregated carriers with higher-order MIMO than other solutions on the market. Cells can be placed in any licensed or unlicensed band using newly introduced RF capability to cover 350 MHz to 6 GHz.

The Signalling Tester MD8430A is a scalable LTE network simulator, with four models ranging from Functional Test Model (FTM) to Enhanced Test Model (ETM), and available software options for both LTE FDD and TDD for any model. The associated Rapid Test Designer (RTD) graphical test software enables quick scripting of tests, with an intuitive user interface as well as available layer 3 and lower-layer libraries. Simulation of 3 simultaneous cells on a single RF is available now with the newly introduced MD8430A-004, and coverage of 350 MHz to 6 GHz is available now with the newly introduced MD8430A-006.
