RJIL likely to foray into 4G market by launching 4G services in smaller cities

June 05, 2014

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Limited) is expected to make its debut in the 4G market by launching 4G services in smaller cities such as Coimbatore and Indore. Subsequently, it plans to expand its 4G footprint to larger towns and cities.

At present, the company is rolling out 4G infrastructure in various cities and conducting trials at different Wi-Fi zones set-up across India ahead of the launch of 4G services.

In addition, the company is also engaged in putting up teams led by a chief technology officer at circle headquarters across all the 22 telecom circles. RJIL plans to hire about 500 people for rolling out and managing its 4G network.

The company plans to introduce 4G services using spectrum in the 2300 MHZ band along with voice over long term evolution services in the 1800 MHz band.
